This foot makes it possible to sew buttonholes longer than 2.5cm.
 
Machines that have the one step buttonhole foot will only do a button with a maximum size of 2.5cm.
 
It is also effective on tight areas such as cuffs where freedom of movement is required than available with a sliding -type buttonhole foot.
