About Us

Founded by Alf in 1963  in Sandy Park Road in Brislington, Bristol, one of 14 independent sewing machines at that time.

As the business grew, Jerry, Alf's son, joined the team, bringing fresh energy and ideas. Marjorie, the shop first demonstrator, played a crucial role demonstrating the machines and sharing her invaluable knowledge.

 

With Marjorie and Alf retired, the team expanded in the 2000's. Catherine and Jenny, brought a wealth of sewing knowledge and experience, enhancing our offerings as demonstrators and tutors. Their expertise has been invaluable in continuing the legacy of quality and passion that our business is known for.

Moira, Jerry's wife, joined the business, strengthening the family connection and commitment to its success. In 2020, John came on board as both a repair technician and service manager, bringing skills and expertise, especially with industrial machines, to the team.

Covid brought challenges that no business could ever foresee, but with thought and the willingness to adapt, we continued trading throughout. The shop may not have been open, but the business was. Supporting the sewing community with repairs/ servicing and supplies in their efforts to sew for the NHS.

During this period, we moved to our new and current location in Emery Road, still in Brislington. Now with a large showroom with over 80 machines on demonstration including a range industrial of machines.

An established authorised dealer for Janome, Bernina, Pfaff, Horn Sewing Furniture, we added Brother to the list, including an authorised Brother Warranty Centre. ​

Family values remain at the heart of our business as we embrace the future. We're excited to welcome Liv, John's daughter, to the team, infusing a youthful and vibrant energy into our operations. Her fresh perspective is a testament to our commitment to innovation while staying true to our roots.
