It has a scrolled shaped feeder on the top and a straight groove on the underside which determines the width of the finished hem
 
There are 3 different sizes of hemmer width dependent on fabric thickness.
Lightweight - 2 mm
Medium - 4 mm
Heavier - 6 mm
