An overlocker enhances and takes your sewing to a new level, however they can seem daunting and intimidating, whether its threading or what do all the dials do.

This 3 hour workshop will take you through step by step your overlocker. Threading, what all the dials do and how to get a balance stitch.

Your tutor, Jenny, will not just show you how to use the overlocker, but will explain why and what is happening when adjustments are made. Our workshops have a maximum of 6 pupils to keep pupil to tutor ration low.

Workshop Covers
- Threading- time is built in for you to practise threading
- Tensions- when, how, which one to adjust
- Cutting width- what is it, when to use , how to use and why change the cutting position
- Differential Feed- what it it, when to use, how to use, why and the effects it creates
- Overlocking woven and stretch fabric ( included ) - when and how to adjust to overlock these fabrics
- Workshop Notes - covering the workshop, with space for your own notes of settings or adjustments.
- Bring your overlocker- Must be in operational working order. (This means the machine must be able to form stitches) – if purchased second hand or given a non new machine, it is recommended that it is serviced prior to attending. Make e sure to bring foot control pedal / power lead / manual and accessories for the machine. (See T's and C's)
- Bring a basic sewing kit- scissors plus at least 4 reels of thread for the overlocker.

You will create samples in this workshop, enabling you top refer back to over again, and attach
to notes.

Our tutors- have experience across all sewing genres including dressmaking, patchwork, quilting, costumes, soft furnishings, pattern drafting, embroidering to name a few.

As professionals in their own right, they understand and know how to use all aspects of machines and feet.

Your Tutor - Jenny Herbert

From an early age, Jenny started sewing, which continued into school and onto college, studying a BTEC in Fashion, Design and Technology.
Over 30 years of sewing experience, 10 years of which for Janome as a demonstrator and now for all machine brands. Overlocking is a specialism and Jenny's understanding your overlocker workshop is not to be missed.
Jenny likes all aspects of dressmaking, especially finishing and embellishing using the embroidery machine, just ask her about the dragon prom dress, as well as using all her machines in combinations with other crafts.
