All orders over £30.00 are free to UK mainland addresses.
All orders below £30.00 are charged as follows:-
- £0.00 - £9.99 - £1.25 postage
- £10.00 - £19.99 - £1.99 postage
- £20.00 - £29.99 - £2.99 postage
- £30.00 - upwards - Free
Horn Sewing Furniture - There can be an extra charge on Horn Cabinets to outlying areas. Please see the Horn section for details.
All domestic sewing machines, overlocks and presses are delivered free of charge.
Industrial sewing machines carry a £25.00 build up charge if required and a delivery charge depending on your location. Please contact us for exact details.
FREE LESSONS
The free lessons are an additional service that Direct Sewing Machine offer our customers and are therefore not transferable against money off sewing machines.
Lesson are valid for 1 year from date of purchase and are all on a one to one basis.
The lessons are held in sotre between Wednesday and Saturdays inclusive and within shop hours.
Lessons need to be booked in advance. Please allow approx 2-3 weeks for weekday and 4-5 weeks for Saturadys.
Customers travelling from outside of the Bristol area, if they so wish, can have their 2 x 1 hour lesson together. Subject to availabilty.
Lessons run for the allotted time booked. Failure to arrive on time will result in a shorter lesson. ie:- lesson time 10.30 - 11.30, arrive at 10.45 the lesson will still finish at 11.30.
Failure to turn up for a free lesson without 24 hours notice will forfeit that lesson.
ONE - TO - ONE PAID SEWING LESSONS
Any one to one lessons cancelled by either us or the customer are transfered to a new date. No refunds will be given.
One to one lessons are held in store within shop hours.
SEWING GROUP WORKSHOPS
Full payment in required when booking your place on the workshop.
Any sewing machine you bring to be used on our workshops must be in full working condition. Any machine that is not working correctly cannot be used. An alternative machine may be available for you to use.
Cancellations Any workshop cancelled by us, will be given an alternative date/workshop, and if this is not suitable than a full refund will be given.
Any workshop cancelled by the customer, will be given a refund on the following terms:-
- More than 14 days before workshop - 75% refund given.
- Less than 14 days before workshop - No refund given.
DELIVERY AND BACK ORDERS
- We always try to post all orders on the same day.
- Orders placed after close of business that day willl be posted the following day.
- Orders placed from Friday pm onwards or during the weekend will be sent Monday am (excluding Bank Holidays).
- We use professional couriers for large items such as machines etc (24-48hr, working day) and Royal Mail for smaller packages (3-4 days).
- We cannot be held responsible for delays out of our control i.e. bad weather, busy roads etc. If we are temporarily out of stock your order will be placed on back order and you will be informed of expected delivery time.
GUARANTEE / DAMAGED OR FAULTY GOODS
We offer up to 5 years extended guarantee on selected models. We provide free collection and return delivery in UK mainland for a two year period, providing that the problem is due to faulty parts and/or poor workmanship. This does not affect your statutory consumer rights.
The customer must notify us of damaged delivery item within 24 hours of delivery.
The customer must notify us of any faulty item within 3 days of delivery.
All our guarantee conditions require that machines brought from us are used for domestic/home use only. This does not cover consumable items like: needles and needle threaders, light bulbs, bobbins, bobbin cases, blades and loopers as per manufactures guarantee.

YOU MUST RETAIN ALL ORIGINAL PACKAGING. Just in case your machine needs to be returned. It is not our responsibility for damage caused by badly packaged machines. In most cases we are able to supply correct packaging at a cost.
Our liability for loss or damage is limited to a sum equal to the amount paid for the item.
CANCELLATIONS AND RETURNS
Under the United Kingdom's Distance Selling Regulations, if you recieve goods, after purchasing via the internet or mail order and then have simply changed your mind about purchasing them, you may return the goods to us for a full credit, subject to the following conditions:-
- The item is in original condition unopened and unused, (eg as it was delivered to you).
- You inform us of your desire to cancel within 7 working days of reciept of the item.
- Goods are returned within 7 workings days of notice being given, in order that your credit can be actioned within 30 days.
- You pay the return delivery charges.
- A credit is given, when the goods have been recieved and checked.
PRODUCT INFORMATION
We are unable to supply JANOME branded products outside the UK and Ireland. The warranty on JANOME products supplied from the UK, only applies within those territories
